RT-3227

Properties and Advantages:

RT-3227 significantly enhances the adhesion of ink (paint) films to substrates; it is primarily used to improve adhesion to plastics—particularly PET—and metals. It exhibits good compatibility with resin systems and does not affect storage stability. It does not discolour during high-temperature curing and does not impair the weather resistance of the paint film. It is particularly suitable for polyester substrates, aluminium and various galvanised alloy steel sheets, etc. It may cause slight cloudiness in polyurethane systems, though this does not affect its application. Its use is not recommended in alcohol-based polyurethanes or inks containing high levels of alcohol-based solvents; during use, mixing with alcohol-based solvents should be avoided as far as possible, and the concentration of alcohol-based solvents in the formulation should not be too high.

Applications:

1. Gravure and screen printing inks, offering excellent adhesion to PET and aluminium foil;

2. Coating systems in contact with metal and PET, such as coatings for printed tinplate, printed cans and coiled materials;

3. Recommended for addition to polyurethane and chlorinated polypropylene in gravure printing inks, at a concentration of 0.2%–0.8%;

4. When added to matt varnishes in PU systems, it can also improve adhesion to PET film without affecting post-curing adhesion

Recommended dosage:

Typically added at 0.5–2 per cent (w/w) of the total formulation weight; in some cases, up to 3 per cent of the total weight may be required;

It is recommended to determine the optimum dosage and compatibility prior to use.

Storage: 

Keep away from high temperatures and sources of fire; store in a cool, well-ventilated place; seal tightly after use; shelf life: 36 months.
